2013 – 14

McIndoe Urban was commissioned to project manage and lead the masterplanning inputs for development of the Retail Precinct for Christchurch. Athfield Architects (contract lead), Wraight +Associates, Abley Transportation and Melbourne-based Stuart Niven and retail experts MacroPlan Dimasi formed part of the team.
Key to the success of the plan was achieving collaboration and buy-in from the land owners, retailers and other stakeholders. A retail reference group was established by the project and was the primary vehicle for coordinating retailer input. Plan development focused on four city centre blocks between Cathedral Square and the new Justice Precinct. Approximately 55,000 sq.m of new retail development supported by residential and commercial office space was tested, modelled and consulted upon with the key retailers and landowners.
